Rob Hall created this breakthrough cover design in or around 1966/7. The artwork, made with blackened strings glued with PVA to a bit of artboard looked a mess of glue and paint until it was photographed, and type added.
Like Max Robinson's Beethoven, this cover quickly became a studio favourite and remains so even forty years on, nominated as such by almost every other designer who worked for the studio.
