Malcolm Binding was a rare talent, he could draw anything he put his mind to, and in a wide variety of styles—from realistic to stylised, his covers for the Gilbert & Sullivan series were richly decorated. Binding vied for supremacy in this genre with Alex Stitt, who also produced a number of original and brightly decorated illustrations for G&S.
